Menstruation is the most characteristic physiological manifestation of a sexually mature woman, which is a discharge of a functional layer of the endometrium, occurring with bleeding.

The average duration of the menstrual cycle in women is 28 days, but this does not mean that in every woman this is the mandatory cycle for menstruation. Normal limits vary between 21 and 35 days.

This, in turn, means that on average every woman has between 9 and 13 menstrual cycles in a year, and the longer a cycle, the less menstruation a woman will have. The opposite is also true - the shorter the cycle, the more bleeding will be.

Menstrual bleeding is normal with physical symptoms such as bloating, stomach cramps, chest tightness, irritability, changes in appetite, headaches, low back and abdominal pain, fatigue and tiredness. These are normal symptoms, but in some cases they may be more severe and signal a problem in the body.

Polymenorrhea is a short cycle and is a disturbance in the menstrual cycle, resulting in bleeding at intervals of less than 21 days or with profuse bleeding in the normal period between 21 and 35 days.

Polymenorrhea occurs in women of all ages, but is most common in teenage girls whose periods have not yet been properly regulated.

The treatment of the condition is aimed at introducing the woman's cycle within normal limits - 21 and 35 days. However, before prescribing pills, the cause must be properly identified polymenorrhea.

Depending on the cause, various contraceptive medications are prescribed to regulate the cycle. Every woman can help herself by avoiding stress, maintaining a normal weight and eating a healthy and varied diet.

It is important to note that a woman's normal menstrual cycle is an integral part of a sexually mature lady's life, and any disorder in it is the most common symptom of a gynecological problem.

In addition to the frequent menstrual cycle, other problems can be dysmenorrhea (painful cycle), amenorrhea (missing cycle), menorrhagia (heavy and very heavy cycle) and oligomenorrhea (occurs more than 35 days).

For this reason, a timely visit to a specialist is absolutely necessary. The woman must strictly follow the treatment prescribed by the doctor and also be examined after its completion to determine that the problem is resolved.
