Expectant fathers also show symptoms of pregnancy, US scientists tell us. Experts explain that men have hormonal disorders in the months before their first child is born, writes the Daily Mail.

The study states that future fatherhood is associated with a decline in two key hormones in men. The change in men's bodies helps them prepare for the new role ahead of them - to be much more caring and responsible and less aggressive.

The researchers were from the University of Michigan and studied 29 couples. Specialists measured the hormonal levels of pregnant women in four stages during pregnancy.

Experts note that expectant mothers have elevated levels of four hormones - these are cortisol, progesterone, estradiol (representative of the estrogen group) and testosterone. Scientists note that there are changes in the levels of testosterone and estradiol in men - there is a decline.

There are no changes in the other two hormones, the researchers are adamant. At this stage, they do not have a definite position as to why men's hormone levels change when they are expecting their first child.

Past research has also found that men experience hormonal changes, but only after they become fathers. However, the current study clearly shows that the levels of some hormones in men change even before the baby appears.

Lowering the level of the hormone testosterone means that future fathers will be much more caring and less aggressive, experts say. Last but not least, they will be more loyal to their partners. Lowering the level of the hormone estradiol is thought to make men more responsible.

According to a previous study, men feel much more attractive after becoming fathers. 182 men took part in the survey and most of them admit that after embracing their child for the first time, they definitely felt a change. They claim to have felt much more confident and masculine.
