Scientists have been able to induce hair growth by growing skin cells on the scalp in a laboratory.

For the past 40 years, experts have tried unsuccessfully to clone hair follicles using cells from the dermis of the scalp.

Recent results, however, have given new hope that baldness can be cured for both men and women.

Until recently, treatments only managed to slow down hair loss, but not to stimulate the growth of new hair on the head.

The most famous method that specialists often use is to take hair with hair from the back of the head and transplant it to the front, where the hair has completely fallen out.

According to the project leader, dermatologist Dr. Angela Cristianio of Columbia University in New York, the new method will allow a large number of follicles to regenerate using the pupillary dermis of hundreds of hair donors.

In the laboratory, human cells were reimplanted on the skin of experimental mice and this allowed hair follicles to reproduce.

Last year, American scientists proved that baldness can be inherited in men. They identified the hormone responsible for male pattern baldness.

The researchers found that the hormone lipid prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) was to blame for male pattern baldness. The researchers found that in bald areas of the scalp, hormone synthesis is 3 times higher than in hairy areas.

Male pattern baldness affects 8 out of 10 men.

About 70% of them are bald in 45-year-old men, about 50% in 50-year-old bald men, and 70% in 70-year-old bald men.

1 in 7 men will go bald before the age of 50.

Baldness is also seen in 40% of women between the ages of 45 and 70.

Due to the scale of the problem, there are various methods to control it - hair transplantation, medication and the use of specialized cosmetics.

Normal hair loss is about 50 to 100 hairs a day.
