A twin pregnancy in itself is a great challenge for any doctor, as well as for any woman expecting twins. Raising such a pregnancy in obstetrics and gynecology, determining the method of birth, when it should take place and where are all issues that require a lot of knowledge in the field. No less important is the correct reading of the condition of the future mother and her babies.

This means that the method of birth in twins depends on the duration of pregnancy, the condition of the fetus in utero, their position in the uterus and whether they have a single amniotic sac or not. Attention should also be paid to the presence of concomitant diseases, as well as the capabilities of the obstetric and neonatology team.

Such a decision is made during pregnancy if childbirth begins prematurely or if complications from the fetus (fetus) occur, as well as in case of problems with the woman's health.

Indications for operative delivery (cesarean section) may be on the part of the mother - previous operative birth, concomitant diseases (aggravated ocular status, cardiovascular disease, etc.), narrow pelvis, presenting the placenta (located partially or completely on the inner opening of the cervical canal), detachment of the placenta.

The reasons that could lead to a section on the part of the fetus are incorrect placement of the twins, when one of them is less, in case of prolapse (falling in front of the vagina) of the umbilical cord or a small part of the child, and if there are no conditions for rapid vaginal birth. And last but not least if they have one amniotic sac.

The normal mechanism of childbirth takes place through a woman's pelvis and her soft birth canal (cervix and vagina). For a normal birth in a twin pregnancy, the position of the fetuses in the uterus is assessed, as well as their approximate weight or size. Here the fetuses must have separate amniotic membranes.

In the 21st century, it is very rare to give birth to twins by normal mechanisms, due to the greater risks for women of ruptures, delayed birth - more than 12 hours, etc., and for fetuses from the possibility of getting stuck somewhere along the way, to aspirate amniotic fluid and others.
