It is widely believed that each of us needs a minimum of eight hours of sleep to feel and look good. However, scientists have refuted this view. According to a new study, a person needs exactly 6 hours and 25 minutes of sleep a day.

Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, studied the sleeping habits of 94 people from three tribes in Namibia, Tanzania and Bolivia.

They are chosen because they lead a traditional lifestyle. Unlike modern man, they do not have the Internet, television, etc. and lead a relatively quiet lifestyle.

It turns out that almost all of them sleep an average of 6 hours and 25 minutes. In addition, unlike most people in Western societies who felt they needed eight hours of sleep, they were much healthier than they were.

The people of the tribes had better blood pressure levels, healthier hearts and practically did not suffer from bad cholesterol.

Scientists are adamant that if we reduce sleep time, we will improve our health. They think that it is extremely wrong to take sleeping pills, as they pointlessly prolong sleep.

The conclusion of scientists is that modern life does not steal our time in bed. They also question the claim that we oppose nature by staying awake after sunset. They even tend to support fans of nightlife and homecoming in the wee hours of the night.

Of course, the time needed to sleep is strictly individual for everyone and depends mostly on everyday life. Some people deliberately reduce sleep time, thus believing that they will do more work.

For example, Margaret Thatcher slept only 4 hours a day, and Bill Clinton - 5-6 hours. The record is held by Jay Leno, who slept for only 3 hours.
